Star Alliance member, SAS has been offering a youth fare for a while now, letting youngsters travel from cheaper fares. While there are some interesting discounts (such as to Spitsbergen), usually these fares aren’t something we would report on. However, economy fares from Northern Europe to Tokyo starting at just €297 (~NOK 3,476) is something that definitely catches an eye – even if it’s only available to people under 26 years.

These fares are available in the first half of June. While the fare only includes a carry-on bag, you can select the Go Fare for just €50 – €60 more return. That includes a 23-kg checked bag.

You can fly from the following cities:

To book these fares, we recommend using the links above. Then you can open the calendar view by clicking ‘Edit Search’ and then clicking on the departure date and checking the ‘Lowest fare’ checkbox.

Between your origin city and Copenhagen, you would fly SAS’s wide selection of narrowbody or regional planes. The Airbus A320 family aircraft and the Boeing 737 have a 3-3 configuration, while the CRJs, ATRs and their Embraers have a 2-2 configuration. In Copenhagen, you would board an Airbus A350 that has a 3-3-3 configuration.

There is no expiration date for this fare. While there is no minimum stay, you cannot book one-way tickets. Unfortunately, travel dates are condensed in the first two-three weeks of June 2023.

You can find these fares only on SAS Scandinavian Airlines’ website. You will have to select your route, and then go over to the dates. There, select “Lowest fare”‘ to see the cheapest prices for both the inbound and the outbound flights.

SAS issues these tickets in booking class O, although Eurobonus gives points according to your fare class. A trip from Oslo would earn you 680 points in the light fare or 1,700 points in the smart fare. For the other programs, this would be your earnings:

Japan’s transport infrastructure is highly efficient and easy to navigate. In cities like Tokyo and Osaka, the metro and train systems are extensive, punctual, and relatively easy to use, though they can get crowded during peak hours. Buses and taxis are also available, but less convenient for tourists. For intercity travel, Japan’s Shinkansen (bullet trains) are fast, comfortable, and reliable, though more expensive than other options. Buses and domestic flights are also available for longer distances, but trains remain the preferred choice for many travellers due to speed and convenience.
