Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s capital, is a mix of Soviet-era buildings, modern development, and nearby steppe landscapes. Key sights include the Gandan Monastery, Sükhbaatar Square, and the National Museum of Mongolia, with day trips possible to the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. The currency is the Mongolian tögrög (MNT), and prices are generally low, though imported goods and tourist services can be pricier. Winters are extremely cold and long, while summers are short and mild, with the best travel window from June to August.
