Following the significant devaluation of award miles, Turkish Airlines is now attempting to appease frequent flyers once more. Whether this will work in the medium term is questionable, given that numerous award flights saw a sudden increase in price of up to 100%.
In case you missed the opportunity to redeem your miles on time, there is now at least this opportunity. For those booking an award flight for travel through the end of August 2024, 20% of the mile value will be refunded after the flight is taken. However, this applies only to flights with Turkish Airlines, not with the Star Alliance partners.
Example: You book an award flight from Germany to Kuala Lumpur for a new total of 90,000 miles (plus taxes & fees). Within a week after the flight is taken, you will then receive a refund of 18,000 miles to your account.

- Booking period: March 4 to March 31, 2024
- Travel period: March 4 to August 31, 2024
- Applicable to one-way as well as round-trip flights in Economy & Business Class
- The refunded miles will be credited within 1 week after completing the award flight
- The refunded miles are valid until December 31, 2025 after being credited
- Applicable only to award flights in the name of the account holder, not for others
- Valid only for award flights with Turkish Airlines & AnadoluJet, not for other codeshares and Star Alliance flights
