Oneworld carriers British Airways, Finnair and American Airlines offer you flights from Stockholm to Los Angeles starting at SEK 4,166 (~€377). Unfortunately, checking bags (unless your status allows you to bring one for free) is quite costly, as a fare including one sets you back SEK 5,391 (~€488).
Our availability calendar shows you all possible flight dates at the lowest fare for trips up to 28 days. You can select your flight dates, and it will take you to ba.com or to the Travel-Dealz Flight Search.

You would change planes either in London or Helsinki. Flights between Stockholm and Helsinki are either on NoRRA’s ATR72s or Embraer 190s (both having 2-2 configuration) on behalf of Finnair or on Finnair’s A320 family aircraft itself. Flights between Helsinki and Los Angeles are on Finnair’s Airbus A350s which have a 3-3-3 configuration.
If you travel via London, you’ll find yourself on BA’s Airbus A320 family aircraft with the standard 3-3 seating layout. Then you can choose between American’s Boeing 777s (3-4-3) and BA’s A350-1000s (3-3-3), Boeing 777s (with the 3-3-3 config) or Airbus A380s (config depends on the floor). We don’t recommend choosing American Airlines.
Search & Book
The fare rules don’t specify an expiration date. You need to stay at least one night from Saturday to Sunday (but at least 24 hours) or 6 nights at your destination to get the lowest fare. Availability is pretty decent from August 2022 onwards.
You can use our calendar above to find availabilities. It will forward you to either ba.com or to the Travel-Dealz Flight Search with your selected dates. You can also use Google Flights (instructions) to set additional filters and then use our Go2 browser extension to book your flights.
Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?
More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:
Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.
If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.
This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.
Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.
This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.
Mileage
If you book on British Airways’ website, the short flights will be issued in booking class S and the long flights in booking class O, regardless of the operating airline. If you transfer in London and book through BA, this will be your earnings:
- 3,722 Miles on Alaska Mileage Plan

Information & Tips for Los Angeles
Los Angeles is known for its iconic sights like the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Griffith Observatory, and Venice Beach, as well as attractions like Universal Studios and the Getty Centre. Information & Tips for USA
The United States offers a wide range of tourist sights, from national parks like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon to cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. The currency is the U.S. dollar (USD), and card payments are widely accepted. Prices vary by region but can be high in major cities, especially for accommodation and dining. Weather differs greatly across the country—winters can be harsh in the north, while the south often stays mild; summers are generally hot and humid in many areas.
The U.S. transport infrastructure is highly car-dependent, especially outside major cities. Urban centres like New York, Chicago, and San Francisco have functional public transit, but many other cities have limited options. Between cities, domestic flights are common for long distances, while intercity buses and Amtrak trains cover some routes, though often with slower speeds and less frequency compared to other countries. Without a car, getting around can be inconvenient in many parts of the country.
