Dar es Salaam Tansania

The SkyTeam member Saudia has regularly offered good flight deals to various regions of the world recently. Now, they are currently selling tickets to Dar es Salaam on the east coast of Tanzania starting at €432. This price includes two pieces of luggage, each weighing up to 23 kg. Availability can be found in May and June as well as from August to September 2024.

Info

For entry into Tanzania, a visa is required, which you should preferably apply for online in advance. Additionally, you may be subject to a health screening, and COVID-19 rapid tests may be conducted.

A fee of €90 (plus any applicable fare difference) will be charged for changes. If the booking is made directly through Saudia, a fee of €130 is required for ticket cancellations. Third-party providers often impose additional processing fees for changes and cancellations in these cases.

You can easily and conveniently find the cheapest flights for your desired dates using our booking form. After selecting your preferred dates, a single click will redirect you to our flight search, where you can find the lowest price, or directly to Saudia’s website, where prices start at €459. Round-trip flights at the cheapest price with a maximum stay of 35 days are already marked in green on the calendar.

From Amsterdam, the journey begins with a Boeing 787 to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The economy class is configured with 3-3-3 seating, and the average legroom is approximately 81 centimetres. After a brief stop in Jeddah, you will continue to Dar es Salaam in an Airbus A320 with the usual 3-3 seating configuration.

The total travel time on the outbound flight, including the layover in Saudi Arabia, is approximately 13 hours, and about an hour less on the return flight. Therefore, despite the layover, the flight times are quite comfortable.

Search & Book

The fare rules do not specify the duration of this offer’s validity. We found affordable flights in the following travel periods:

  • May to June 2024
  • August to September 2024

The fare rules do not mention a minimum stay, and the same applies to the maximum stay. You can quickly and easily find suitable dates using Google Flights (instructions). Afterwards, you can book through one of the providers in our flight search or use Saudia’s website. Booking directly with the airline has the advantage that you can potentially avoid additional fees from OTAs for changes or cancellations.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Stopover in Jeddah

A stopover in Jeddah on the outbound or return flight is theoretically possible but unfortunately comes with an additional charge. We found connections starting at €554. In the sample connection listed below, you have a four-night stay in Jeddah on the outbound flight before continuing to Tanzania.

Mileage

The tickets are issued in booking class T. For the entire trip, you can expect the following mileage credits:

  • 7,672 Miles on Xiamen Airlines Egret Club
  • 7,152 Miles on Aeromexico Club Premier
