SkyTeam carrier Air Europa is currently selling cheap tickets to Tunis. They are particularly cheap from Porto and Lisbon, but even their nonstop flight from Madrid is currently not expensive. Sadly, however, adding luggage would increase the price by roughly €70. Only SkyTeam Elite (or higher) members get to bring one free piece of luggage.
Tunisia has already reopened its borders for tourists. While Spain is currently on its green list, Portugal still remains on its orange list (meaning that a negative Coronavirus test is required). The lists are updated every two weeks.
The low price from Portugal has a downside – a long layover in Madrid. It is, however, so long (roughly 9 hours) that you could use that time for a quick sightseeing tour of Spain’s capital.
We expect further shakeups in the airline industry over the following months. Some services might be cancelled, aircraft changed or downgraded. The schedule we describe may very well change.
Search & Book
This deal expires on July 8, 2020. You can fly anytime until March except from December 18th until January 10th. According to the fare rules, you can even add a free stopover in Madrid in each direction. We found availability to be quite high.
Google Flights sadly doesn’t display Air Europa fares on its calendar. We recommend simply playing around with various dates on our Travel-Dealz flight search.
Miles
The tickets are issued in booking class Z, meaning that a Porto-Tunis roundtrip should get you:
- 850 Miles on Xiamen Airlines Egret Club
- 528 Miles on MEA Cedar Miles
- 528 Miles on Saudia Alfursan
- 528 Miles on Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles
- 318 Award Miles + 20 XP on Flying Blue
