From March 26: World of Hyatt Increases Points Prices for 137 Hotels

Hyatt Regency Cincinnati graustufen

Once a year, World of Hyatt updates the prices for award nights. Now it’s that time again, and Hyatt has announced where prices will be increased and decreased. In total, there are 183 changes: 137 hotels will become more expensive, and prices will be reduced for 46 hotels.

Unlike other hotel chains, Hyatt still has fixed categories. Within the categories, there are three price bands: the regular points value, the “off-peak” season, and the “peak” season. Fortunately, the prices are not completely dynamic, as is the case with e.g. IHG or Hilton.

The new prices will apply to bookings made from March 26, 2024. It is important to note that those who book before this date will still benefit from the old values. In the case of a price reduction, the difference will be automatically refunded.

All changes can be transparently tracked on Hyatt’s website. Therefore, here’s just a brief look at the changes in Europe.

Info

The example prices in the lists below refer to the standard award. Depending on the season, prices may vary slightly, e.g., hotels in category 1 cost either 3,500, 5,000, or 6,500 points per night.

Changes in Europe

In Europe, there are mostly price increases. The number of hotels with downward adjustments, on the other hand, can be counted on one hand:

  • Category 1 → 2 (8,000 instead of 5,000 points):
    • Hyatt Regency Sofia 🇧🇬
    • Hyatt Regency Belgrade 🇷🇸
    • Hyatt Place LHR Airport 🇬🇧
    • Hyatt House CDG Airport 🇫🇷
    • Hyatt Place CDG Airport 🇫🇷
    • Lindner Hotel Berlin Ku’damm 🇩🇪
    • Lindner Hotel Köln City Plaza 🇩🇪
    • Lindner Hotel Köln Am Dom 🇩🇪
  • Category 3 → 4 (15,000 instead of 12,000 points):
    • Hyatt Centric Venice Murano 🇮🇹
    • Hyatt Place London City East 🇬🇧
  • Category 4 → 5 (20,000 instead of 15,000 points):
    • Hyatt Centric Milano Centrale 🇮🇹
    • The Tribune Rome (JdV by Hyatt) 🇮🇹
    • Hyatt Regency Düsseldorf 🇩🇪
    • The Wellem Düsseldorf 🇩🇪
  • Category 5 → 6 (25,000 instead of 20,000 points):
    • Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid 🇪🇸
    • Thompson Madrid 🇪🇸
    • Hyatt Regency Madrid Residences 🇪🇸
  • Category 6 → 7 (30,000 instead of 25,000 points):
    • Hyatt Regency Nice Palais de la Méditerranée 🇫🇷
    • IL Tornabuoni Florence, Unbound Collection 🇮🇹
  • Category 7 → 8 (30,000 instead of 25,000 points):
    • Hôtel du Palais Biarritz 🇫🇷
  • All-Inclusive category A → B (20,000 instead of 15,000 points):
    • AluaSoul Ibiza 🇪🇸
    • AluaSoul Menorca 🇪🇸
    • AluaSoul Mallorca Resort 🇪🇸
  • All-Inclusive category C → D (30,000 instead of 25,000 points):
    • Secrets Mallorca Villamil Resort 🇪🇸

Prices will be reduced for the following hotels:

  • FirstName Bordeaux 🇫🇷 (5 → 4; 15,000 instead of 20,000 points)
  • Dreams Calvia Mallorca Resort 🇪🇸 (B → A; 15,000 instead of 20,000 points)
  • Magma Resort Santorini 🇬🇷 (7 → 6; 25,000 instead of 30,000 points)

Conclusion

In times of rising hotel prices, devaluation at World of Hyatt is not surprising. It is at least commendable that Hyatt announces the changes transparently with one month’s notice.

After the changes, the number of European hotels in category 1 significantly decreases. However, there are still some (Lindner) hotels available. You can find these here on the world map.

By the way, the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati from the cover image is moving from category 2 to category 3, so it will cost mostly 12,000 instead of 8,000 points in the future.
