icelandair business class

Low-cost or hybrid carrier Icelandair has a product called Saga Class. While it is a business class product, these are recliner seats, equal to premium economy. Luckily, the product includes lounge access, two checked bags, free Wi-Fi and fast track security, where it’s available. The meal service is similar to other airlines’ premium economy class with mixed reviews.

This time, they offer almost a hundred connections from the US East Coast to several European cities, including Reykjavik, London or Paris under US$1,500 (~€1,399). The cheapest route is from Chicago to Reykjavik, starting at US$947 (~€883). These are all OTA prices. The Icelandair website offers these fares for $60-$150 more.

You can find these fares from Boston, Baltimore, Washington DC, New York City (JFK and EWR), Chicago and Raleigh-Durham. You can reach Reykjavik (non-stop), Dublin, Oslo, Paris, Copenhagen, London, Brussels, Manchester, Helsinki, Glasgow, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Berlin, Rome, Prague, Barcelona, Zurich and Munich.

Icelandair Saga Class

Icelandair’s Saga Class is an interesting mix of business class and premium economy. On one hand, you can check in two bags, have free wi-fi, lounge access (airport list) and breeze through Fast Track security where it’s available. On the other hand, you’ll have recliner seats. While they are nice for European flights, people have mixed opinions of them flying Transatlantic. The airline is now offering most flights on Boeing 737 MAXes and is about to retire their Boeing 757s and Boeing 767s in the near future. According to SeatGuru, the seats on all aircraft have a 40-inch (over a metre) pitch and a universal power outlet.

You can Allplane’s review of the Boeing 737-9 and the Boeing 757 or Thrifty Traveller’s Boeing 737-8 review.
