Seychelles: Turkish Airlines starting at €488 from Milan, Rome, & Athens (with Luggage)

Seychelles

You can currently fly to the Seychelles with Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines starting at €488 from Milan, Rome and Athens. Flying with Turkish Airlines has two major advantages: luggage is included, and the service on board is very good – at least compared to many other economy classes.

Our calendar shows all available dates for trips of up to 28 days. You can either be redirected to our Travel-Dealz flight search, where you’ll get the cheapest OTA price, or to Turkish Airlines’ website, which is a bit safer but also costs roughly €40 more.

You would first fly to Istanbul, from where you’d take an 8-hour flight to Seychelles onboard an Airbus A330 (2-4-2 configuration). You’ll be served a hot meal and drinks for free.

Search & Book

This fare can apparently be booked until October 31, 2023. Your flights need to start before March 20, 2024, for trips of a maximum of 12 months.

Our calendar above displays all available dates for trips of up to 28 days. Should you wish to stay even longer, you’ll have to use Google Flights to find available dates. Either way, you can then get the cheapest price on our Travel-Dealz flight search. Alternatively, you can also book on Turkish Airlines’ website, though that increases the price by roughly €40.

Hint

If you are a student, you can take advantage of TK’s student ticket offering to all three destinations. The prices (€505 to Milan, €517 to Rome, €521 to Athens) are slightly cheaper than the regular TK offering and only a little more expensive than the OTA offering. To find these prices, choose “Search on turkishairlines.com” in the calendar above and change the passenger type on TK’s search bar from Adult to Student.

Why is booking with an airline better than with an online travel agency?

More often than not, online travel agencies offer lower fares than airlines do. We still recommend booking with the airlines directly. There are two main reasons for that:

Better Customer Service
In case any problems like delays, cancellations or missed connections arise, you can communicate directly with the airline. The airline has to take care of you because you have a contract with them.

If a travel agency issues your ticket, you may have to reach out to them first. You also depend on your OTA to forward information like flight changes instead of receiving them directly from the airline. In many cases, you may get a prime exhibition of responsibility shifting rather than problem-solving.

This especially applies to premium tickets. You don’t want to spend more than €1,000 to wind up with some budget OTA’s telephone hotline in case anything goes wrong.

Baggage and Other Fees
Economy fares not including hold luggage are industry standard by now. In most cases, travel agencies charge much higher baggage fees than the airlines themselves. If bags are not included in your fare, airlines are often the cheaper alternative.

This also applies to other things like food services, insurances or priority treatment. In almost all cases, you pay less for additional amenities when booking on the airlines’ website.

Mileage

The tickets are issued in booking class U, which will only get you miles at Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles. The shortest route (from Athens) would get you 2,300 miles. If you want to calculate the number of miles that you’d get on a different route, simply use our Miles&Smiles calculator below:

Information & Tips for Seychelles

The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean off the east coast of Africa. There are numerous beaches, coral reefs and nature reserves as well as rare animals such as Aldabra giant tortoises. The capital Victoria is located on Mahé, the starting point for visiting the other islands. The island also offers rainforests in the mountains of the Morne-Seychellois National Park and beaches such as Beau Vallon and Anse Takamaka.

Best Time to Visit

The best times to visit Seychelles are April, May, October and November. These months represent the transition times between the hot and humid northwest trade winds (from November through March) and the cooler southeast trade winds that define April through October.

Entry & Visa

Most EU citizenss do not need a visa. A permit for the duration of the trip will be issued upon arrival at the border. It can be extended for a further three months up to one year.
Passport, return flight ticket, hotel booking and sufficient financial means (approx. US$ 150 per day) are required for entry. Checks on entry can be made, funds can be carried in cash, traveller’s cheques or credit cards.
