Travelzoo currently has a deal for the Crowne Plaza in Porto. The rate that they offer is roughly 30% cheaper than the usual rate, costing only €89 per night + a €2 tourist tax per person and night. In addition to accommodation in the Deluxe Room, you’ll also get breakfast, a welcome glass of port wine, and a free wine tasting in a bodega. In addition, the booking can be cancelled up to 7 days before arrival.
This deal is available on the German Travelzoo website. If you don’t speak German, we recommend that you use a browser that can translate the site for you. Once you’ve bought the voucher, you’ll be able to view it on the English Travelzoo site as well. Redeeming the voucher at the hotel is also possible in English.
The voucher can be redeemed for stays until December 30, 2022. There are no blackout dates in the travel period or seasonal price differences!
Here’s how it works: You buy a Travelzoo voucher for one night and one for each additional night if you want to stay longer. Afterward, you reserve your desired date directly at the hotel (phone or email), using the voucher. Of course, it could be that the hotel has no availability on the dates you want. In any case, you can simply return the voucher to Travelzoo until December 30, 2022, and your money will be refunded. If you have already redeemed the voucher, you can still cancel the reservation up to 7 days before arrival.
If you’re unsure about how many nights you’re going to stay, simply buy a few extra vouchers. Once you’ve decided, you can just get a refund for the ones you bought in excess.
The Hotel
The hotel is located in the Boavista district on Avenida da Boavista. In this district, there are numerous high-class international 4 and 5* hotels. It’s not exactly within walking distance of most sights, but at least the Crowne Plaza has its own car park (though it charges a hefty €19 per night for parking).
The Crowne Plaza has 232 rooms on 15 floors, as well as an in-house restaurant and bar. The special thing about the restaurant: the processed vegetables and fruit come from the hotel’s Urban Garden.
The best time to travel to Porto is between May and October. During this period, the temperatures are pleasant and there is hardly any rain.
Price Comparison
This time we found the cheapest price for comparable services (deluxe room including breakfast) directly at the hotel. There, however, the night usually costs roughly €135 (probably including the €4 tax). This means that the Travelzoo deal is roughly 30% cheaper than booking directly at the hotel.
However, the hotel is even more expensive if you travel during the late spring or in autumn, often costing roughly €160, i.e. if you redeem these vouchers then, you’d be saving even more.
